Our Company History
For over 50 years Lloyd Ltd has been specialists in agricultural, construction, materials handling and ground care machinery, with more recent additions of domestic lawn care equipment and equestrian supplies, while, since 1976, Lloyd Motor Group has represented leading automotive manufacturers for car sales, servicing and repairs.
Lloyd Motor Group continues to grow, with dealerships covering Cumbria, Lancashire, Tyne & Wear, TheBorders and Dumfries & Galloway, orbiting our Carlisle-based Head Office.Representing leading manufacturers in BMW, MINI, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover andVolvo, as well as Honda and BMW motorcycles, requires us to offer the highest standards of customer care and technical expertise, for which we have an outstanding reputation. From new and used car sales to aftersales and body shop vehicle repairs, we cover every aspect of vehicle ownership and put the customer at the forefront of everything we do.

1976 - Lloyd Motor GroupEstablished Founded as a BMW dealership in Cockermouth
1977 - Awarded the Volvo franchise in Cockermouth
1986 - Opened a BMW dealership inCarlisle
1988 - Took on the Honda franchise in Carlisle
1994 - Opened Land Rover and Rover dealerships at Rosehill, Carlisle
1996 - Awarded the Volvo franchise in Carlisle
1998 - Acquired Fawdington Ltd, which is now known as Lloyd BMW Newcastle
2003 - Moved BMW premises fromKingstown Broadway to Grearshill Road, with MINI taking over the former BMWsite in Carlisle
2003 - Opened Honda Motorcycles inCarlisle
2005 - Acquired Gilligan Jaguar inCarlisle, which was renamed Lloyd Jaguar
2006 - Took on the Saab franchise for Cumbria
2007 - Acquired Prestons BMW andMINI dealerships which are now known as Lloyd BMW and MINI Colne
2010 - Acquired Derek Woodman, nowLloyd BMW and MINI Blackpool
2011 - Acquired Croall Bryson, which has become Lloyd Land Rover Kelso
2015 - Acquired Bateman in Lindale, now under the name of Lloyd BMW and MINI South Lakes
2016 - Acquired Ripon Land Rover inNorth Yorkshire, which has recently been renamed Lloyd Land Rover Ripon
